Christopher Bailey will replace Angela Ahrendts as chief executive officer of Burberry, as she announces her departure this morning.
Angela is anticipated to step down from her top position on the British fashion house by mid-2014, as she goes directly to assume the role of senior vp for retail and online stores at Apple.
True to his modest character, Christopher will maintain his current title on the brand, explaining he felt “humbled to be asked to tackle the CEO role at this company meaning most to me. I also feel privileged to be keeping my role as chief creative officer.”
The Yorkshire-born designer was at Burberry since 2011, where he’s worked alongside Angela for over a decade to craft the coveted label we know and love today.
There’s definitely the duo are set for equal success as they part ways next year.
