Christopher Bailey will replace Angela Ahrendts as chief executive officer of Burberry, as she announces her departure this morning.

Angela is anticipated to step down from her top position on the British fashion house by mid-2014, as she goes directly to assume the role of senior vp for retail and online stores at Apple.

True to his modest character, Christopher will maintain his current title on the brand, explaining he felt “humbled to be asked to tackle the CEO role at this company meaning most to me. I also feel privileged to be keeping my role as chief creative officer.”

Alexander Wang’s Lego Man Hair: Would You?

Alexander Wang AW14 catwalk

Futuristic, fembots, military, utilitarian: these were just a few of the words used to explain Alexander Wang’s extreme boyish combovers at his Autumn Winter 2014 show. But we’ve decided ‘Lego’ best describes the helmet-like hair that came down the runway at Long island Fashion Week.

Alexander Wang pulled in some pretty big names to model his new collection, inclusing Karlie Kloss, Jaquetta Wheeler and Bridget Hall.

And it’s testament to the fad designer’s influence within the industry that he managed to influence said models to also bleach their eyebrows for his latest catwalk show.

The models were almost unrecognisable as they hit the runway with invisible brows and hair so sculpted it didn’t look real.

Is the Alexander Wang combover next season’s wet-look Prada style?

Having been spotted with photographer Terry Richardson, hairdresser Robin Harraga and Mario Testino within the space of per week, Cara really is the lady to be seen with within the French capital.

We have Rita to thank for a stream of latest behind-the-scenes pictures, as she teased the duo’s exciting project via Instagram.

Hanging casually from street scaffolding in the course of the midnight shoot, the British BFFs looked in good spirits because the French designer took at the directing role.

Wearing her favourite blue skinnies on set, it’s not clear whether Cara was fascinated by the shoot herself, but Rita was certainly dressed for the part – she was also sporting similar Chanel headgear as seen on Rihanna earlier this summer.

Diane von Furstenberg celebrates 40 years of the wrap dress

Diane von Furstenberg said happy 40th birthday to the wrap dress this weekend

Diane von Furstenberg was inside the party spirit this weekend, as she celebrated a whopping 40 years of her signature wrap dress at her Autumn Winter 2014 Big apple Fashion Show.

Karen Elson, a very long time von Furstenberg model, opened the star-studded show, which also saw Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn take to the catwalk to showcase the fad designer’s Autumn Winter 2014 range.

Of course, there have been a number of wrap dresses on display, as there always is – however it wasn’t until the finale that the garment, which has become a wardrobe staple for millions of ladies worldwide, got its full birthday bumps. As confetti reigned down at the catwalk, the models stepped out in lots of gold wraps – a fitting tribute to the dress that has made von Furstenberg a household name.

The enduring style, first made favored within the 1970s, is a favorite for plenty of women as a result of its easy, flattering shape. It is promptly glamorous and everyday – that is one of the most reasons it continues to hang its place in wardrobes everywhere.

Although the wrap dress hasn’t ever truly gone away, it’s enjoying a resurgence in the mean time way to the Oscar-nominated movie American Hustle, and the vintage Diane von Furstenberg dresses worn by Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams.

We’re definitely digging out ours…

DKNY Swaps Rita Ora And Cara Delevingne For Non-Models At the Catwalk

A model on the DKNY catwalk

DNKY cast real New Yorkers to model the garments for its AW14 collection

DKNY is up to now the show to make the largest statement at the catwalk at NYFW this season, as Donna Karan eschewed Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora to cast real New Yorkers as models in her show.

While Rita Ora – who’s the face of DKNY and starred in its last catwalk show – was in attendance, she was sat firmly at the side of the catwalk, as opposed to walking down it. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old singer was modelling a fab DKNY leather jacket and tartan dress, which got the flashbulbs popping.

Continuing its 25th anniversary celebrations, DKNY’s AW14 show was much more of a love letter to new york than ever before. Opening with a video which showed New Yorkers speak about their home city, real life city dwellers then took to the catwalk (alongside the pros, too), to model DKNY’s AW14 collection and actually push home the heritage of the logo.

This was as much a showcase of the variety of NYC, and just how stylish its inhabitants are, because it was for the garments. And we loved it.

Michael Kors could be making a one-off Christmas capsule collection for Gwyneth’s lifestyle brand Gloop

Michael Kors is teaming up with British actress and shut friend Gwyneth Paltrow to create a one-off Christmas collection for her online lifestyle brand,

Featuring ready-to-wear pieces corresponding to capes and pea coats at the side of a variety of Paltrow’s favourite picks from Kor’s accessories line, the limited edition capsule range is alleged to be inspired by the 41-year-old lifestyle guru’s own wardrobe and could be available from December.

‘Michael’s clothes are gorgeous, staple, American classics that never exit of fashion,’ Gwyneth said of the hot partnership. ‘I thought it might be wonderful to reinvent a few of my favourite vintage Michael Kors looks that I even have kept for years, that I wear persistently.’

‘These elegant, luxurious pieces will stay within the closet forever and be passed down. I’m thrilled with what we created,’ she added.

The exciting new collaboration sees Kors following within the footsteps of fellow fashion royalty Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson, who’ve both previously teamed up with the age-defying actress.

‘I have always been intrigued by the assumption of somebody who can juggle all of the balls inside the air and do it with great style, make it look easy, be smart and feature a way of humour”, Michael told WWD of his new creative partner, before adding that Goop’s chic audience is the “perfect match for everything i feel style may be.’

We can’t wait to look what sartorial delights these two have dreamt up! Focus on a match made in fashion heaven.

Tamara Mellon In New York

Tamara Mellon

Rex Features

Tamara Mellon made her name because the co-founding father of Jimmy Choo, and now the shoe supremo has turned clothing queen together with her debut collection.

Featuring luxe fabrics, cool laser cuts, subtle sprays of sequins and a heavy hit of leopard print, the 46-year-old’s eponymous line is the very best mixture of classic staples and statement buys.

London-born Tamara, who parted ways with the enduring shoe brand in 2011, bucked the fad week trend of revealing her range months in advance of its release, telling Bloomberg: ‘We’re living in a worldwide where women wish to buy now wear now. They do not would like to examine shows after which have products in stores six months later.’

Not only is the hot-York-living designer making her fierce togs on hand, her plan is to introduce monthly drops of things counting on the time of year.

‘The fashion business, you understand, delivers coats in July; spring/summer dresses in January. Nobody desires to do this, no one’s in that mindset.’

So if you have your eyes on any of Ms Mellon’s wares, you will not must wait long to update your wardrobe as her label hits Harrods and online haute couture hotspot from November.
